Xeround Available on Orchestra

We’re pleased to announce that Xeround Cloud Databases are now available on Orchestra.

Xeround makes it easy to scale MySQL. Ensure auto-scaling & high-availability of your MySQL application with a zero-management, simple, database-as-a-service. No code changes required to your app! At the moment, we only offer a free plan, for testing your apps. In the coming months, we’ll be rolling out a range of paid plans that will be suitable for production apps. But why not check it out now, and let us know what you think?

Deploying With Orchestra

As with everything else to do with Orchestra, the process is very simple!

Go to your Orchestra addons dashboard.

Enable the Xeround Cloud Databases addon.

Click Manage Addon.

Click Create Database and create a free developer database.

Your database will take a few minutes to initialize.

Once that’s done, configure the database connection settings in your app.

Then deploy your app to Orchestra.

Deploying With Xeround

For a production app, you’ll probably want to move to a Xeround Basic or Pro database.

Go to Xeround, sign up, and login.

Click Create New and select Xeround Basic or Xeround Pro.

Fill in the form, and make sure to set your Data Centre to Amazon EC2 US East.

Note down the password you specify, you’ll need this later!

Wait for the database instance to initialise.

Click on the External DNS hostname and login to phpMyAdmin.

Click Databases in the bar at the top of the page and create a new database.

Using the Internal DNS hostname, configure the database connection settings in your app.

Then deploy your app to Orchestra.

Simple!

Now you can scale your database along with your app on Orchestra.
