A Time for Distill: 2014
Distill 2014 plans to take the concept of the essence of development and raise the bar. Last year, Distill attendees were treated to a one-of-a-kind experience as the conference brought together innovators in application architecture, user experience, hardware, and all things development in an intimate setting. We also saw talks meant to inspire the creative mind from the likes of Brent and Nolan Bushnell, Michael Lopp, and James Whelton.
So, how do we do it all again, but bigger, better, and more cutting edge? We start at home, in San Francisco and branch out across the world to find the best and brightest.
Distill 2014 will bring together many disciplines. Our speakers will give talks on the integration of hardware and software, how to keep your edge when dealing with web and mobile tech, SOAs, and all the bits and pieces that go into the modern development world.
In setting the tone for Distill 2014, we again started with our keynoters. A range of keynoters is the best way to cover the most ground so we started with Ben Huh of Cheezburger and Steve Souders of Fastly.com.
These keynoters, along with a cast from all corners of the development world, and the real world, will help to make a map of creativity, knowledge, and experience any attendee can use as a guide to better development practices, work practices and community engagement.
Some of our speakers include Amy Wibowo (airbnb - San Francisco, California), Des Traynor (Intercom, Dublin, Ireland), Eric Shepard (Brooklyn, New York), Nick Sutterer (Wicked Weasel, Byron Bay, Australia), Robin Mehner (independent, Berlin, Germany), and Christina Truong (HackerYou, Toronto, Ontario, Canada). Our content team worked to select speakers with diverse backgrounds, from diverse locations, and with the experience to deliver the best possible content for our attendees.
It would be easy to say Distill 2014 is a polyglot conference, but that would be dismissive. Distill focuses on the most important facet of being a developer: solving problems. In order to best solve problems it is necessary at times to eschew the tools and focus on the problem itself. When we look at what the essence of development is and what it can be, we look at the best way to use our creative talents to meet the needs and solve the problems of our end users.
Last year’s Distill set the bar high. With reviews like these, we knew we had our work cut out for us. This year, Distill 2014 will raise the bar again, and we’d love for you to join us.
Tickets are on sale now! With limited space, it’s important to get tickets before they sell out.
…and yes, we will have the return of the roaming Engine Yard Panda.
